If you are sick and tired of getting flats on your bike and having to buy new inner tubes all the time, you've come to the right place. I live in an urban area, a city that has rugged streets, potholes, debris, etc, and before purchasing these I always had to buy inner tubes due to flats. I wanted an end-all solution to this problem, so not only did I purchase a pair of these Avenir Thorn-Resistant Tubes, I went a step further and also bought "STOP FLATS 2" bicycle tire linear made by STOP FLATS, simply because Avenir markets the tubes as "thorn-resistant," which I thought probably still wouldn't be good enough for solving my problem. Well, the two products together work flawlessly and have ended my flats up to this point -- so far so good. I've had the tubes and linear for over a month, no problem. The linear serves as a barrier-layer between the inside tire and the tube, and is guaranteed to prevent flats, while the tubes are really heavy duty, such that even if the linear was not there, I believe something would really have to tear through the tire to damage these tubes (they're that good). Bear in mind that these tubes are heavy duty and they do add some weight to your bike, probably as much as 16 ounces (a full pound) or more. However, I don't do bike races with my hybrid anyway, and my higher speeds haven't been affected much by the weight. I'm more into touring long distances for fitness purposes only, and the last thing I need is to end up somewhere 30-40 miles from where I live on an off-road having to thumb my way home due to a flat.
These tubes have given me some peace of mind...again, so far. If anything changes in terms of my satisfaction, I will be sure to re-post. Otherwise, I am more than happy with this purchase, and the tubes are worth the price. I will eventually purchase these again as spare tubes for long hauls (just in case!!!). I will end by saying that these tubes are a good buy, and I think it was a good idea to also use the linear. I couldn't be happier!
